Join us at Supersoul Farm for our second annual Memorial Day weekend event: Chant Camp with Gaura Vani and Raghunath

Learn the art of kirtan, how to play harmonium, hand cymbals & the clay drum. Learn how to lead a kirtan as well as new melodies, songs, and mantras.

A yoga retreat with music classes and kirtan going on all day!

Space is limited, register ASAP.  Camping spots available and commuters are welcome.

Do you love kirtan? Would you like to learn how to lead kirtan, play the instruments or learn classical songs, new mantras and melodies? Perhaps you never had a good resource where you could study systematically from teachers who have been playing for years. This yoga retreat was designed for you!

Chant Camp is a weekend-long kirtan school hosted by international kirtan master Gaura Vani and yoga teacher, story-teller, and kirtan-leader Raghunath. You will learn how to play the instruments of kirtan -- mrdanga (clay drum), kartals (hand cymbals), and harmonium -- learn new songs, and practice leading. Whatever your level, we will break into groups and go through these instruments and the art of kirtan for your joy and education -- to bring you to the next level of skill and depth in this world of sound meditation.

We will also talk about the authors and legends behind some of these songs (bhajans), learn about structuring a kirtan, and most of all, we will immerse ourselves in these sacred sounds all day long -- like a school where you can take different classes during the course of the day only to break for sumptuous vegan/vegetarian meals cooked with love and devotion. Saturday night we will host a public kirtan for Gaura Vani and Raghunath and erupt into ecstatic song and dance. We'll have daily yoga classes, gather around the bonfire, and sing all day long. Students are encouraged to bring their own harmoniums, kartals, and/or drums. We will also have a limited number to borrow or buy.

Gaura Vani is a multi-disciplinary artist - fluent in music, film and visual arts. He is most known for his Mantra Music performances. Gaura Vani's events are unifying and transporting - a mix of participatory rhythm and song, story and dance. He has traveled in Africa, the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia performing both as a solo artist and with his sacred music ensembles “The Hanumen” and “Juggernauts”.

Gaura Vani began studying sacred Indian music at the age of six in the ancient temple town of Vrindavan at a traditional Gurukula school. He continues to share the magic he received and performs at festivals like Lollapalooza, Floyd Fest, Beloved, Bhakti Fest and Wanderlust, as well as eclectic venues like private homes, theatres, temples, and yoga studios.

Gaura Vani is also a co-founder of Chant4Change a mantra-music festival that takes place in Washington, DC on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. He lives in suburban DC With his wife, 3 kids and a ferret.

Raghunath has been transforming people's lives since he was a teenager, when he got into yoga and clean, healthy living. As the lead singer and songwriter of two internationally-acclaimed bands that toured the world in the punk/hardcore music community, he made music that, while abrasive, was filled with positive uplifting and spiritual lyrics, transforming tens of thousands of fans' lives, espousing vegetarianism, karma, positive mental attitude and a drug-free life. At 22, he went to India where he lived in a Krishna-Bhakti ashram, taking vows of a monk. Over the course of his 6 years as a monk, he studied sacred literature, music, cooking, and the deeper facets of yogic culture. Considered a teacher's teacher, Raghunath is a gifted speaker and educator of self-transformation & spirituality. He travels internationally, leading teacher trainings, annual sold-out pilgrimages to India, and has been living the life of a yogi for 30 years. Presently, he's married with 5 children and is co-creating Supersoul Farm, an educational center in Canaan NY, with his wife Brij Cappo.
